AN ELECTRICAL fault was believed to have caused a major blaze that destroyed a bungalow while the family who lived there were away on holiday.
Firefighters from Corringham were called to deal with the fire in Brook Drive, Fobbing shortly after 3am this morning and arrived to find the bungalow completely alight.
The crews took 50 minutes to bring the blaze under control, though the bungalow was uninhabitable having lost its roof and suffered considerable internal fire damage.
There were no injuries as the couple who own the bungalow were away on holiday at the time.
The property owner said a fire officer had told him the fire was believed to have been caused either by the electrical fault or by rodents, possibly mice, gnawing away at the wiring inside.
