WANT to know what's changing in your town? Here are some planning applications for south Essex over the last week.

A PRIMARY school is going green by installing solar panels.

Temple Sutton Primary School, in Eastern Avenue, has been given permission to install the sun-powered devices on the school’s south-facing roofs.

The school claims that it could save around £1,600 per year with them installed.

BASILDON Council has approved an application for a new briefing room to be built at Ford Dunton.

The room, housed in a portable building, will be next to the test track.

A PLANNING application to create two three-bedroom houses in St Johns Road, Great Wakering has been recommended for refusal by planning officers because it failed to provide adequate amenity space for each of the dwellings proposed.

PLANS have been drawn up for two new homes at Bonville Farm, off the A127, near Wickford.

An application has been submitted to Basildon Council to extend and revamp the existing farmhouse.

Officers are due to decide on the application by the end of November.

AN APPLICATION to demolish a bungalow at Long Acres, Lower Road, Hockley, and build a new five-bedroomed bungalow has been submitted to Rochford District Council.

BASILDON Council has received a licensing application for a fast food outlet. Basildon Kebabs has applied for a late night licensing for selling fast food in Nethermayne, Basildon.

PLANS to build a veterinary practice and two houses have been recommended for refusal.

Councillors at Castle Point will discuss the proposals for land next to the disused King Canute pub on Canvey.

Novellus plans to demolish the large detached garage and retail unit on land next to the pub, in Canvey Road, and build a veterinary practice and two detached houses.

Officers at the council have recommended the plans are refused on the grounds of layout, loss of a retail unit, noise and possible disturbance.

A report by officers says the applicant intends to retain the King Canute building and make changes to the car park.

The vets planned a waiting room, reception, consulting rooms, clinical area, office and a bereavement room.

Canvey Town Council has objected, saying the site would become overdeveloped.

The plans will be discussed by the development control committee on Tuesday, October 6 at 7.30pm at the council offices in Kiln Road, Thundersley.
