A MAN has been charged with GBH, and a number of driving offences including, failing to stop after a road collision and driving whilst disqualified.
The pedestrian, a 19-year-old woman, sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. She remains in hospital receiving treatment.
The driver was also charged with driving a vehicle dangerously, driving without insurance and being the driver of a vehicle involved in a road collision but failing to report the collision to police.
The incident took place in Stanford-le-Hope in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were contacted at around 12.45am on September 19 with reports of a road traffic collision involving a red Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian in Corringham Road.
Curtis Lodge, 27, of Buckles Lane in South Ockendon has been charged today has been remanded in custody to appear before Magistrates in Basildon on Monday, September 21.
