Steve Hackett was lead guitarist with Genesis in the Seventies, and is well-respected as a musician, singer and songwriter in his own right.

In 1986, he co-founded the supergroup GTR with another progressive guitarist, Steve Howe of Yes and Asia.

They released the US Top 20 single When the Heart Rules the Mind, but Steve left in 1987 and the group disbanded.

He has since been recording and touring worldwide as a solo artist, and brings one of these tours to Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion in October.

The UK tour, which consists of 19 shows, is a celebration of his latest album – Wolflight – and his many years in the music business.

The setlist will cover a huge part of his discography, with a selection of solo material from early albums, including Voyage of the Acolyte – which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year – and Spectral Mornings, right up to Wolflight. He’ll also be playing a set of Genesis classics, many of which he hasn’t played for years.

“I’m looking forward tremendously to creating a show celebrating both early material and my latest album, using magical surround sound” Steve says.

“We’re also involving a whole new set of Genesis classics, including several numbers I’ve not played since the Seventies, such as Can- Utility and the Coastliners, Cinema Show, Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Get ‘em Out By Friday...”

The line-up for the tour will be Roger King on keyboards, Gary O’Toole on drums, Rob Townsend on sax, Roine Stolt on bass and 12-string guitar, Nad Sylvan on vocals and Steve Hackett on guitar and vocals. Vocalist/guitarist Amanda Lehmann will join some of the shows as a special guest.

The gig takes place at the Cliffs Pavilion on Saturday, October 31, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £29.50 and £27.50.
