A RAF HELICOPTER seen off the coast of Southend is taking part a training exercise with Southend Lifeboat crews.
Residents reported seeing the helicopter off Southend Pier at around 2.30pm today.
Southend Lifeboat crews are working on an exercise with the RAF.
A spokesman for Thames Coastguard said: "Southend Lifeboat are working on exercise with the RAF.
"They often do these exercises out at sea.
"They will be practicing manoeuvres they might have to do during a live incident.
"No coastguard teams are involved in the exercise."
