JUST six houses are left to sell on a yet to be completed development in Thundersley.

Ashcroft Place, off Kiln Road, is set to be finished by the end of the year.

The 150-home development, by David Wilson Homes, offers a mix of three, four and five bedroom homes for between £334,995 and £599,995.

The Government’s new Help to Buy scheme has been made available at Ashcroft Place, meaning homebuyers only need a 5 per cent deposit.

Jason Colmer, sales and marketing director for David Wilson Homes Eastern, said: “A number of the properties have been sold through the help to buy scheme.”

The final phase of construction is under way. Mr Colmer said: “Depending on progress, we will hopefully be finished by Christmas and out of there by early next year.”

The site team has won a Bronze Considerate Constructors’ award for its efforts.

Colin Riley, leader of Castle Point Council, said of the sales figures: “That’s incredible. I think it just shows there’s a need for these type of properties in Castle Point.

“We’ve worked hard with the developer to make sure there’s a mix of properties. I’m delighted.’’ Castle Point Council gave its seal of approval for the development in August, 2012.

Estate agent Haart said the popularity of Ashcroft Place was unsurprising due to its location.

Brad Follett, senior sales negotiator at Haart, in Benfleet High Street, said: “Three and four bedroom properties are the average house size in this area and it’s popular with people coming down from London to get more for their money.

“It’s a very sought-after area and close to Benfleet train station.

It’s suitable for families and first time buyers.

“New builds get a lot of attention, and many people like to know they’ve got a warranty.

Help to buy has made a hell of a difference and with Ashcroft Place, when it first came on the market, lots of people were asking about the scheme.”

! Development will continue in the area after councillors approved plans by Redrow Homes for 71 properties off Kiln Road.

There will be a mixture of two, three, four and five bedroom homes and one and two bedroom apartments on the 6.4 acre site adjacent to Ashcroft Place.
