TODAY marks the second anniversary since the bedroom tax was introduced.
Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Thurrock Polly Billington has pledged to vote to scrap the tax if she’s elected next month.
She says the tax has affected 898 people in Thurrock.
Ms Billington said, “The next Labour government will repeal the bedroom tax and bring some respite to those at the sharp end of the government’s cost of living crisis. The Bedroom Tax has failed to sort out our housing problem.
“Instead this cruel policy has punished some of the most vulnerable in society. Many of these are carers for people with disabilities or separated parents who need the space to see their kids. If I was Thurrock’s next MP I’d vote to scrap the bedroom tax.”
