A weather warning for strong winds across Essex has been issued by the Met Office.

Forecasters have warned of gusts of 50 to 60mph, as well as winds of up to 70mph in exposed locations.

The warning applies from 7pm today until 7pm tomorrow.

A Met Office spokesman said: "The wind will become northwesterly by Tuesday morning, and although easing for a time, it will become very gusty through the day, particularly near showers.

"The public should be aware of the risk of localised damage from these winds and for minor disruption to travel.
