A MAN is being treated for chest injuries after being attacked at gunpoint.
The man, aged in his 40s and from Basildon, was walking in the underpass alongside the BP garage, in Nethermayne, Basildon, at about 9.50pm last night when the attack took place.
Police believe an air-powered gun was used to shoot him.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, and his condition is currently described as stable.
The underpass remains cordoned off while officers carry out investigations.
