POLICE are investigating after vandals kicked in a kiosk and destroyed a ticket barrier at a train station.

A kiosk and ticket barrier at Southend East station were both damaged within the space of nine hours on Sunday December 28.

One young man kicked in a kiosk before spitting on a window and another destroyed a ticket barrier.

PC Kevin Cornell said: “At 4.45pm on Sunday, 28 December, two youths entered the station. One of them started kicking a staff kiosk, dislodging a side panel.

“He then climbed inside, kicking a second panel out and spitting on the window.”

“While the other youth did not take an active part in damaging the kiosk, he returned shortly before 2am in the company of another male.

“One of them opened the cover of the ticket reader. The other dislodged the ticket reader unit inside and pulled out the wiring, leaving the barrier damaged and in need of repair.”

Officers from the British Transport Police have released CCTV of two people they believe have information. Do you recognise either of them? Please contact BTP if you know who they are.
