BRITAIN’S most famous female vicar makes an appearance at the Thameside theatre next month... and you'd be forgiven for thinking that it’s Dawn French on stage in Grays!

Theatre staff have had to tell quite a few people already that the face on show posters in the booking office is not the real Dawn.

Regular followers of Thurrock Courts Players productions will recognise the face of talented local actress Jill Snelling as she leads the cast as an amazing lookalike in this hilarious stage adaptation of one of our best loved sitcoms, The Vicar of Dibley.

The show follows the arrival in Dibley of the replacement vicar Geraldine Granger, to the great surprise of the locals who struggle at first to adapt to a female vicar. Not balding but buxom, and with a picture of Mel Gibson hanging next to Jesus, Geraldine soon wins their hearts with her kindness and humour. The script has been officially professionally compiled from the actual TV scripts for stage production and Courts have been given permission to perform it at the Thameside.

Bringing together many of your favourite TV series moments, from Geraldine's unexpected arrival to Alice and Hugo's unforgettable wedding day, this promises to be another fantastic evening's entertainment from Thurrock Courts Players.

The Vicar of Dibley is at the Thameside Theatre from February 12-14, at 7.45pm and 2.15pm on Saturday 14th.

Tickets are £12 adults and £10 concessions, available from 07475 634 474 or book online at thurrock.gov.uk/theatre
