FIREFIGHTERS have already had to deal with three house fires caused by burning turkeys.
Basildon Fire Station was called to Great Oxcroft at 10.30am, Brundish at 12.30pm and Devonshire Road at 1.30pm, all in Basildon, by families with seriously overdone turkeys.
One person at Brundish suffered burnt hands as a result of the fire but no-one else was hurt in any of the incidents and the fires only caused minor smoke damage, meaning all were able to return to their homes.
Fire officer Mark Eaglestone said: “We sent two appliances out to each incident and managed to put all the fires out and get everybody out with no damage to the properties, only the turkeys.
“There was only smoke damage but their houses were still liveable, so everyone should be able to enjoy their days.”
