Thieves stole £12,000 of valuable jewellery from a house in Grays.

Police are appealing for information after suspects broke into a house through a downstairs bathroom window of a house in Bridge Road between 4.45pm and 5.30pm on November 26.

Once inside they made a tidy search of the house and stole Asian gold jewellery including gold bangles and bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

More than £1,800 in cash was also taken.

Investigating officer Pc Nicola Hadfield said: "The family have been left extremely distressed by the loss of these items.

"They were being kept at the house following a family wedding and the money was also part of a wedding gift.

"If anyone saw any suspicious behaviour in the area at the relevant times or has been offered any of these items for sale I would definitely want to know.”
