A CHELMSFORD Council worker Brian Knights recently retired after 40-years unblemished service.

Brian was a familiar face in the High Street and worked as a street cleansing officer, and could be seen every day taking great pride in keeping the city centre clean.

Janette Potter, in charge of waste and recycling, said: “Everyone knew Brian, from the police to the street market traders and he was always pleased to help out where he could.

“It truly is a remarkable achievement to work for an organisation for 40 years and to never take a day off sick. We are very grateful for the service he provided the residents of Chelmsford.”

Brian lives in Chelmsford and will now try to relax in his retirement. He’s especially looking forward to sitting by a fire in the winter watching the snow fall, without having to get up the next morning to clear the paths in the High Street. All of his managers and colleagues wished him a happy and healthy retirement.
