A PASSENGER on a double decker bus had to duck down when it crashed into a bridge.

The bus was travelling along Hawk Hill, in Battlesbridge, when it hit the bridge at 6.45pm yesterday.

A man on the top deck narrowly avoided injury by ducking down. He did not need hospital treatment.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: "The roof was completely off so luckily there was only one man on the top deck of the bus with a minor arm injury. He didn't even require hospital treatment but there were two passengers downstairs who were very shaken, one of which was taken to Broomfield Hospital as a precaution."
