A MAN was left with serious injuries after an accident on a building site.
The victim, in his forties, was working on the foundations of a house in Crays Hill Road, Crays Hill, when a huge mound of mud collapsed on top of him.
He was dragged out by work colleagues, but suffered serious injuries to his pelvis and legs.
The air ambulance helped a crew of paramedics who had arrived by ambulance.
The man was taken to Basildon Hospital. His injuries are thought to be serious, but not life-threatening.
An ambulance spokesman said: “The man received injuries to his pelvis and legs when he became trapped.
“Land and air ambulance crews worked closely to treat, stabilise and immobilise the man before he was taken to Basildon Hospital for further treatment.”
The building site is in a residential street flanked by gated homes costing upwards of £700,000.
Neighbours told the Echo they heard the air ambulance, but did not see it land.
The accident happened at about about 1.20pm last Thursday. On Friday, nobody was working on the site.
