A PRE-SCHOOL is on a high after being graded “good” by Ofsted.

The latest report by the education watchdog has praised the leadership at Acorns Pre-School in Chadwell St Mary.

The inspector said: “Senior staff monitor the curriculum, to ensure that children make good progress and that staff planning and interactions are effective in supporting learning.

“A system of self-evaluation is in place.

“This is effective in supporting staff to make improvements which have a positive impact on children.

“Staff are able to develop their skills through attending courses and in-house training and are supported in improving their levels of qualification.

“Good partnerships with parents keep them very well informed about their children's learning and development, while links with other professionals, such as local health visitors, ensure children are well supported in all their needs.”

Owner Denise Schofield paid tribute to her staff’s hard work.

She said: “We have got this good rating through the hard work and team effort of the staff.

“The inspector said their management and leadership was very strong, so that was a nice compliment.”
