Calls have been made for changes to the speed limits on some of the Dengie’s most dangerous roads.
Following the deaths of teenagers Abbey Parker and Brad Cooper on Lower Burnham Road, North Fambridge, the couple’s close friend Jake Howard, 17, said action needed to be taken.
He said: “I think the speed limit needs to be changed.
“I went down there yesterday and the speeds that people were going, even after there had been a crash the day before, was unreal.”
Sunday’s accident brought back painful memories for wheelchair-bound Julia Wingfield, who was partially paralysed following a motorbike accident in 1986.
She said: “There have been three motorbike accidents since May that I’ve heard of and all within a ten mile radius.
“It just seems to have accelerated beyond belief this year.
“It’s horrific.”
