A growing number of people are having to visit a Maldon food bank after struggling to afford to eat.
Nationally, the Trussell Trust last week revealed it is now opening four new centres a week in the UK as it struggles to cope with demand, while locally, the Maldon Food Pantry has also had a soaring number of visitors, particularly families.
The pantry, which is run by Churches Together in Maldon, was launched last February and serves some of the town’s most in-need residents.
It is based at Maldon Elim Church, in Wantz Road, every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm, and is reliant on donations of food at local supermarkets.
