An ambulance crew on an emergency call were in a collision with a car on a roundabout.
Both the paramedics and driver of the black Ford Focus appeared unhurt.
Ambulance staff diverted traffic around the crash near the Notley Road roundabout in Braintree which happened at about 8.20am this morning.
Traffic officer Kevin Littlefield said the ambulance was on an emergency call heading out of the town and the Focus was coming from the direction of Godlings Way.
He said it was a "relatively low impact" collision.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "“Whilst en route to an emergency call in Black Notley, the ambulance was involved in a road traffic collision involving another car. "The crew, both woman were uninjured. The car involved was a woman was also uninjured. "A further response car was immediately sent when they called the collision up."
