Workmen pulled out the stops so that a carnival could run without a hitch.
Hundreds of people enjoyed Coggeshall’s annual procession on Saturday, after engineers suspended gas works so that the floats could take their usual route.
Twelve visiting courts, six local floats, walking groups, majorettes, bands and the fire brigade paraded through town, dressed according to this year’s theme of Coggeshall Past and Present.
Among them were this year’s Coggeshall carnival court: queen Luchia Le Chalmers, her deputy Holly Bass, princesses Hope Woolston and Alicia Andrews, junior queen Carrie-Ann Nice, and flower girl Tia Walker.
