A LACK of water hampered firefighters' efforts to tackle a massive Colchester blaze.
The fire broke out in a derelict building at the old barracks in Mersea Road at about 6pm Sunday.
In total, seven pumps spent more than six hours tackling the blaze, which gutted the old building.
There were no working water hydrants on the site, making the crews' job more difficult.
