A car has mounted a verge in a leisure centre car park.
The incident happened shortly before 9.50am this morning in Leisure World, in Cowdray Avenue, Colchester.
There is severe damage to the driver side of the Nissan vehicle.
Emergency services are on the scene.
A passer-by said: "A lady who works in McDonald’s witnessed it.
"She said she heard the acceleration and what sounded like a screeching tyre and as she looked up, the car flew into the air and landed in the bush."
A spokesman for Colchester Council, which runs Leisure World, said: "Leisure World facilities and the car park are open as normal."
Both Essex Police and Essex County Fire and Rescue have been contacted for comment.
