THE district’s voluntary service is inviting people to celebrate World Mental Health Day next month.

Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service (M&DCVS) will be celebrating the day to raise awareness of mental health issues on Wednesday October 10 at the town hall in Maldon.

The service would like anyone who either has or supports someone with a mental health condition, or has an interest in promoting good mental health and wellbeing to join us for a free cream tea, soft beverages and good conversation.

Guests will also be invited to share stories about the things that make them feel happy in the world.

There is no need to book or inform in advance, people can just turn up on the day.

The service will be at the town hall from 1pm to 3pm on the Wednesday.

M&DCVS is a charity based in Heybridge, offering support to voluntary and community groups across the whole Maldon district, including the towns of Burnham, Maldon and Southminster and the Dengie Peninsula.

It has a membership of more than 200 groups. Services offered include assisting groups to identify possible funding, promoting, networking, strategic representation, organising events, training; and access to meeting space.

It offers advice on policies, procedures, legal issues and matters of good practice, plus start-up advice and support to new groups and projects.
