CHILDREN went round and round Abberton Reservoir in search of teddy bears for a day of adventure and learning.

The Teddy Bears’ Picnic hosted by Essex Wildlife Trust sent the youngsters, aged three to seven, through the woods, as well as making a bear’s favourite food and places for them to sleep.

Charlotte Wells, who led the session, said it was an enchanting afternoon.

She said: “All of our events are designed to be fun but always making sure there’s a nature theme behind it so we can teach them about our wildlife.

“We began our session with a story about bears walking through the woods together and everyone had brought their teddies with them, then we went from a walk through the trees to find the wild bears of Abberton who were all hiding in the trees.

“After our walk, our teddy bears felt a bit hungry so we made them a bees salad and collected bugs and leaves and made them some nice dens to sleep in.”

To finish the afternoon the children made teddy bear bunting and played themed games.
