AN altercation over being “cut up” on a narrow road in Clacton led to a man being shot at through his car windscreen, a court heard.

Prosecutor Raj Joshi described the moment Elton Dsaine, 24, allegedly opened fire on Roland Wilkerson’s Skoda Octavia with a shotgun in Beach Road, Clacton, last November.

Two other victims were in the car.

This followed an exchange of words between the pair sometime after 7pm when the Skoda and Dsaine’s Vespa scooter nearly collided as two lanes went into one, near roadworks.

The jury at Chelmsford Crown Court listened to the prosecution’s opening in which Mr Joshi claims Dsaine asked the alleged victim, a delivery driver at Favorite Chicken - “Do you know who the f*** I am?” - and made calls to co-defendant Lee O’Sullivan, 29, who then drove from Bethnal Green in London, to Clacton.

CCTV from Pallister Road shows Dsaine, of Agincourt Road, London, getting into O’Sullivan’s Volkswagen Golf that evening, Mr Joshi said.

The pair are charged with possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and three counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

O’Sullivan, of London, is also charged with dangerous driving for “trying to pursue the Skoda at speeds of about 50 to 60mph”.

Mr Joshi said: “At about 8.40pm, Mr Wilkerson drove down Beach Road and saw a car pull out in front of him, blocking the road. He chose to reverse the car.

“At that point Mr Dsaine left the Golf and chased the Skoda.

“Mr Dsaine was carrying a double-barrel shotgun across his chest and pointed it directly at the windscreen and fired once, damaging the windscreen.”

The court heard Mr Wilkerson frantically reversed the car until he reached Rosemary Road and joined the town’s one-way system.

“As a result, he drove the wrong way around it and unfortunately, collided with a Ford transit van,” Mr Joshi continued.

“Mr Wilkerson reversed at speed to try and get away, and at that stage the Golf sped off down Skelmersdale Road.”

Mr Joshi said the Golf reappeared, the occupants shouted at Mr Wilkerson, and it sped off towards Wellesley Road.

A BMW behind the Golf sped off too, he said.
