TWO teenagers have been arrested in Witham.
A 16- year-old was arrested on Saturday evening night in connection with an incident where a video of a young boy being assaulted was circulated on social media.
Police have arrested another 16-year-old at around 10pm last night on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.
The video shows a child being wrestled to the floor and punched and kicked repeatedly in the face.
The teenager tries to defend himself but the attack continues and he is grabbed around the throat.
The child is frequently kicked in the face and the head whilst he is on the ground and can be heard saying 'I'm sorry.'
Towards the end of the video the victim manages to run away.
A spokesman for Essex Police said on Saturday evening: "We are aware of a video circulating on social media which depicts a young boy being assaulted in the Witham area.
"Following enquiries, we have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with this incident."
Police also thanked members of the public for their concern and confirmed the victim is recovering and is being supported by specially trained officers."
