A SUPER slimmer has transformed from a fitness-phobe to a fitness fanatic after losing an impressive four stone.

Sally Letman retired in the early summer of 2016 and her weight had crept up to 16 stone 3lbs.

The former assistant headteacher at Ipswich High School, who is 57, said: “My knees hurt, I puffed up the stairs and I was always tired.

“Size 22 was a squeeze. I tried scarves and earring to distract people but felt old, tired and dull.

“I went on holiday to Madeira and I couldn’t walk up the hills. I just felt enormous.”

A friend suggested Weight Watchers but Sally said she was so scared and thought she would never do it.

Howeve,r with persistence she has managed to shift the weight and said she now feels great.

At her last weigh-in she was 12 stone 3lbs.

The mum, who attends Weight Watchers in Lawford, said: “It has taken ages, some weeks I lost only half a pound.

“Slowly but steadily it came off. I did it for my health, I’m quite a confident person but I disguised my weight.

“I realised I was out of puff and my father died of a heart attack so I didn’t know if it was genetic.”

Sally said it was a long ordeal but she was determined to keep at it.

She added: “It would have been so easy to give up. I still drink my wine and go out with friends and for a long time no-one noticed I had lost the weight.

“It’s been two years but now people don’t recognise me, they have to do a double-take which just feels great.”

Sally is now at the gym three days a week and takes part in Zumba classes.

She said: “It wasn’t a diet, it was a lifestyle change and now I feel amazing.

“I still eat what I want, I just have it in moderation and sometimes I do need to discipline myself and ask myself if I really need to eat something.

“Walking in was the best thing I did. I am going to be a fit retired person and I can do anything.”

Her coach Bev Woods said she started attending the classes in May 2016. She said: “She has done absolutely amazingly, the difference is just fantastic.

“She’s doing more exercise and has really embraced what we are doing.”

Sally thanked the group for its support, saying she loved receiving messages congratulating members on their weekly progress.
