MINDLESS yobs have damaged multiple vehicles in an overnight vandalism spree in Dovercourt.

Police received reports from upset residents that eight cars either had their tyres slashed or windows smashed while parked in Grange Road, Elizabeth Road, Manor Road, Manor Lane and Main Road overnight between last Friday and Saturday.

Lami Bearder, 37, of Grange Road, said her American day van had one of its tyres slashed during the spree.

She said: “I came home on Friday night around midnight and all was fine then – so it was in the early hours.

“But with a very large tyre cost and now it’s sitting tilted, it will damage all the underneath too.

“I could be looking at into thousands of pounds to repair it when I don’t actually have the cash to put it back on the road.”

She claims there were 11 cars damaged during the vandalism spree that she knew of.

A Main Road resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “My dad’s car was parked outside his house along the main road and both side windows were smashed. “I believe eight other cars were damaged.

“Police have been informed, but no more has been done.

“It is going to cost my dad over £200 to get fixed.”

Darren Deex, Tendring community policing team inspector, said: “We had eight reports about damage happening overnight on Friday, December 8, and the morning of Saturday, December 9, in that general area.

“In the eight reports of damage, there were no suspects or anyone seen by the victims in the area.

“To my knowledge nobody has come forward with additional information yet. We are not seeing an increase in crimes with damage and we will continue to monitor this and deal with it proactively if it happens again.”

Anyone who has information about the incidents is asked to contact Essex Police on 101 or alternatively to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
