A REFORMED music promoter is getting set to cap off a whirlwind year of top live performances with its final show in Harwich.

Essex Rocks promise a night filled with some of the finest unsigned musical talent from the region, including Elephant Jane – a melodic alternative rock group from Colchester and Harwich.

The band is a must-see for fans of Biffy Cyro, Foo Fighters and Faith No More.

Also performing will be Hut for Titans, a new group boasting a hard-rock sound, and Dilute to Taste, who promise to light up the stage with their hot riffs, driving beats and outrageous lyrics.

Essex Rocks was formed in 2006 by Chris Berwick and Michael Offord as a campaign designed to promote the unsigned music scene.

The group soon developed a reputation, twice winning the Panic Award for Best Independent Promoters after running a number of sell-out shows across the county.

Essex Rocks re-formed in 2016 after a two-year break, working with the Harwich Festival to hold a series of concerts throughout the past year.

Chris said: “It has been an amazing year, the region is clearly still rich with unsigned talent and attendances at all of our shows in Harwich and Colchester have exceeded expectations.

“With this great line-up, the final show in Harwich should be no exception.”

The final Harwich show will take place at 8pm on Saturday, October 21, at the Royal Oak, in Main Road, Dovercourt.

Tickets cost £3 in advance or £5 on the door, available via harwichfestival.co.uk or from the box office at Harwich Library, Kingsway, Dovercourt.

Essex Rocks plan to return in 2018 and the promoters are urging more unsigned bands to get involved.

“Working with the Harwich Festival has really opened up a number of possibilities, such as helping to programme the main stage for the popular Beside the Seaside festivals in Harwich and Clacton.

“We firmly believe that live music should be celebrated and to this end we would encourage anyone interested in the region’s life music scene to get in touch.

“Come and say hello at one of our gigs, this could be bands, promoters, photographers, bloggers and writers.

“The best way to promote the Essex live music scene is to work together.”
