A PENSIONER was followed by a conman who demanded he hand over hundreds of pounds in cash. 

Police are trying to find the owner of this car following the fraud.

A man knocked at an address off Bromfords Drive in Colchester at 11am on Wednesday, October 4, and spoke the homeowner who is in his 70s.

The man said the victim’s roof needed fixing and drove off, insisting he had to collect materials.

However, he instead followed the victim before demanding cash from an ATM in Mersea Road and driving with off hundreds of pounds.

This suspect has been described as being around 6ft tall, white, of a slim build and spoke with an Irish accent.

Investigating officer, PC Adam Westall said: “The suspect in this incident was an opportunist who quickly identified that he could exploit a vulnerable member of our community.

"We need identify this suspect before other elderly and vulnerable people are conned out of their hard earned cash.

“We urge anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle photographed to contact Colchester police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
