THE Parkrun is coming to Burnham as it is set to launch in Riverside Park.

The Parkrun is a 5km run open to everybody, whether they be experienced runners or someone wanting to get fit.

The Burnham Parkrun will launch on Saturday, July 22, with a route that will consist of two laps around Millfields and Riverside Park.

Councillor Bob Boyce MBE, Chairman of the Council’s community services committee, said: “Riverside Park is a great park and well loved by the people of Burnham. The new Parkrun is a great addition to the park for residents and visitors alike.

“It is also great to see another option within the district for people to participate in Parkrun and take advantage of this fantastic and free initiative that is supported by Maldon District Council.”

The Burnham Parkrun will be held every Saturday morning at 9am all year round and is run by a team of volunteers.

David Burnham from the Council’s leisure and sports development team said: “It is brilliant that Parkrun will be held in Burnham for the local community to take part in.”

Carly Stevenson, event director, added: “Parkrun has wider community health benefits as well as a good social activity for those taking part. We would like to hear from people who wish to volunteer and help with the staging of the events.”
