Textiles advice

A TEXTILE club will meet in Burnham.

The Creative Lady Textile Club will meet at its store on Burnham High Street this evening at 6pm.

This meeting will focus on Abigail Mill style appliqué of a domestic scene, using organza and quickly applied fabrics.

Fabrics are available or you can bring your own small patterned lightweight cottons.

With the right fabric, they could be made into a cushion.

Annual subscription to the club costs £40.

Open mic night

ENJOY an open mic night in Little Totham this evening.

The Swan on School Road will be holding an open mic night organised by multi-talented local musicians, which will see a large number of interesting local artists and a growing appreciative audience.

Village festival

A FESTIVAL will be held in a village this weekend.

The St Lawrence Village Festival will be held at the Rural Discovery Church from today through to Sunday.

There will be a craft fayre, dog show, live music, flower festival and art exhibitions with a church service each day.

Tickets cost £5, with the entertainments from midday to 4pm each day.

Splat rat at fair

A SUMMER fair will be held this weekend.

Tolleshunt Major Recreation Ground will be holding a summer fair on Saturday from 1.30pm to 4pm.

There will be a raffle, tombola, fishing for fizz, splat the rat, a bouncy castle and cake stall with cream teas, barbecue and refreshments.

Miniature trains

CHILDREN can attend a free event at a locomotive museum.

The Museum of Power in Langford will be holding a free for kids’ event on Sunday from 10am to 4pm, where all children up to 15 can enter for free to the museum with a free ride on the miniature steam railway.
