A SPECTACULAR fireworks display is among the attractions on Clacton Pier over the bank holiday.

Entertainer Stevie Ritchie – not the one from the X Factor – performs this Saturday and returns on May 1, from 1pm to 4pm on both days.

On Sunday, vocalist Tracey Moorehouse will be belting out popular hits from the stage in front of the Boardwalk while Helen’s Many Faces gets to work painting faces.

The evening continues with rock-pop band SMC who will be on stage between 6pm and 10pm, followed by a spectacular fireworks display in the evening.

This is being provided on top of the usual rides and attractions at number one, North Sea.

Pier director Billy Ball said the new season has got off with a bang with the pleasant weather helping to bring in visitors.

He said: “We are really pleased with the way things have kicked off for 2017 and we want to make sure it continues with plenty of new initiatives on the way.

“We had a good number of people around last weekend and the Pier to Pier Walk for St Helena Hospice also took place.”
