A MAN has been charged with six counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a horror crash involving a bus and a lorry carrying a static steam engine.
The horrific accident happened on East Mersea Road in West Mersea on September 23 last year when the engine fell off the lorry and smashed into a bus.
Bus driver Michael Birch suffered severe injuries to both of his shoulders, chest, his forearm and hand, fingers, hip and pelvis as well as a severe laceration to his abdomen in the incident but made a miraculous recovery.
The lorry driver Philip Last, 52, of Northgate Street, Great Yarmouth, has now been charged and will appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on July 28.
