A LORRY driver was spotted performing a sex act on himself while parked up in a Colchester industrial estate.
Andrew Stanhope, 52, was parked in Hawkins Road at about 8.40am on March 11 when a woman on her way to work spotted him in the cab of his lorry.
The woman then reported the sighting to a colleague, who also spotted Stanhope and called the police.
In a prepared statement, Stanhope told the court he was driving his lorry towards Harwich when the road was closed and traffic was diverted into Colchester.
He said his tachograph was almost at its legal maximum, which meant he could not drive for another nine hours, so he had to park up in the industrial estate.
The incident took place the following morning and he “did not expect anybody to be able to see him”.
Stanhope, who lives in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, admitted exposure at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court also heard Stanhope was “ashamed” of his behaviour.
His case was adjourned for sentencing at the same court on June 23.
