A HIGH-SPEED crash between a car and a van left two people with injuries.

The vehicles collided on the A120 between Horsley Cross and Wix on Wednesday evening.

A man in his 60s and a woman had to be treated for their injuries and were taken to hospital, with the road closed while the scene was cleared.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “There was a collision at 5.44pm near Wix.

“We sent two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer.

“There were two patients, a man who had chest pain a woman who was described as walking wounded – she was outside the vehicle while the man was trapped.

“Their injuries were not believed to be life threatening.”

Firefighters freed the man with the help of paramedics and both patients were taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment.

Police re-opened the road by 7.45pm.
