A NEW community policing team is expected to be set up covering Chelmsford and Maldon.

The team will include one inspector, two sergeants, ten constables, a dedicated youth officer and seven PCSOs.

The areas currently have 31 PCSOs, but 24 are expected to be lost due to the cuts.

The team will be responsible for the night- time economy, tackling emerging crime trends, reducing crime and engaging with the public.

A community meeting will be held each month.

The team will not deal with neighbourhood disputes, low level antisocial behaviour or parking issues, but instead will work alongside partners within the local authority asking them to assist.
