FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze which had completely engulfed a large chicken shed.
A total of seven crews – two from Colchester, one from Tiptree, one from West Mersea, one from Maldon and two from Halstead including a water bowser- were all called to Grass Reasons Farm off Clears Road in Layer Marney just before 10.45am today.
The crews used four main jets, four hose reel jets and two spray plates to fight the blaze on the barn which measured 100m by 15m.
The fire was completely extinguished by 1.30pm.
No livestock is kept on the farm and no other emergency services were called to the scene.
