A woman has been left trapped after a crash between a lorry and a car in Halstead.
Two fire engines from Halstead were called to Hedingham Road at 2.15pm.
They used cutting equipment to release the woman.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman, in her 50s, was not though to be seriously injured.
"She has some neck and back pain so it is normal for us to ask the fire service get her out so we can extricate her properly in case there is neck or back damage.
"She is conscious, breathing and is talking to us."
An ambulance and ambulance officer attended the scene.
It is likely that the woman will be taken to Broomfield Hospital.
