The role of a regeneration manager for Braintree, Witham and Halstead has been axed.
Alison Jennings, who worked as the regeneration manager at Braintree Council since November 2011, left the post last month to work for project management company Turner and Townsend in London.
She will not be replaced and her salary has mostly been spent providing additional support for businesses in the district.
As part of her role, Alison was instrumental in securing £86,500 in Portas Pilot money by writing the successful bid and established town teams in Braintree, Witham and Halstead.
