THE iconic Manhattan skyline has been recreated in Clacton – in the shape of one of the world’s largest jigsaw puzzles.

An 18ft wide and 6ft high mosaic on a wall in Jackson Road is becoming a bizarre tourist attraction.

The huge panorama is impressive enough.

But a closer inspection reveals it is actually a giant jigsaw made up of an astonishing 32,252 pieces.

The puzzle was put up by Clacton Arts and Crafts Centre.

Joint owner Janet Bryant said: “It’s a breathtaking image taken from the 61st floor of the Rockefeller Building and is made up of 65 individual images of the New York skyline, as part of the Manhattan Gigapixel Project.”

The huge jigsaw weighs a whopping 42lb and is so heavy, it comes with its own trolley.

“It takes 9,000 man hours to complete – that’s 112 eight-hour days,” added Janet.
