Friends of a mother killed by her partner have blasted the “outrageous” sentence given to him.
Stacy Clague, 34, of Friends Filed, Bures, was in the passenger seat of Nigel Kelsall’s silver BMW 3 Series convertible when he lost control going round a bend in Vinesse Road, in Little Horkesley, on May 20, last year.
She was not wearing a seatbelt and died from severe head injuries when the car smashed into a maple tree.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard although lorry driver Kelsall – who had been in a relationship with Miss Clague for some months – was not speeding on the 60mph road, he was going “too fast to prevent an incident.”
Stacy's ex-partner's sister Jessica Parker said: “We are all very unhappy with the outcome.
“He got a two year car ban and a two year custodial sentence just because he pleaded guilty which is outrageous."
