Police officer hurt after chasing 15-year-old with a knife in Witham
A special police constable was taken to hospital after chasing a teenager armed with a knife in Witham.
The police officer chased after a 15-year-old boy at Witham train station at 8.15pm last night.
The police officer received minor injuries after he fell and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The boy was arrested at the scene and has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
He has been bailed to appear at Colchester Youth Court on March 4.
Special inspector Jo van Zanten tweeted today: "Officer injured in #Witham last night is a friend of mine. Happy to report he is OK, if a little tender in places.. #EPSpecials"
