Money could be given to create school places for another 210 children in the Braintree district.

Essex County Council’s Cabinet supports proposals to spend £55million on expanding primaries and secondaries across Essex.

Braintree would get enough money to create five forms of entry in primary schools, equal to one additional class or 30 places a year, and two at secondary schools.

The budget report will need to be agreed by the full council later this month, outlines plans for educational spending to support the creation of over 3,000 new school places across primary and secondary schools.

The council could not give any further information on which schools would be expanded or if new ones would be built as discussions are still underway.

However, Braintree Council has allocated space for a possible expansion of Tabor Academy in Braintree as part of its hopes to build new homes around Panfield Lane.

Halstead schools have also said places are under pressure.
