THE family of a man who vanished from Colchester have urged him to come home for Christmas and make them complete again.

Anthony Stammers, whose birthday was yesterday, left his home in Mile End Road on May 27, 2012, and has not been seen since.

His family has released an online video called “A Postcard for Anthony Stammer's 30th Birthday”, begging him to make contact.

It includes an emotional and direct appeal from Anthony's parents, Julie and Robert, his siblings and friends.

They have urged people to retweet and share the video in the hope it reaches their music-loving son.

Mrs Stammers says in the video: “Thirty years ago today you came into our lives, a beautiful, shining light and with it you brought love, kindness, gentleness and your ability to debate just about everything in life.

“And, of course, your writing and your music. I miss your music, Ant. I miss our silly little song and dance routineswe used to do.

“I miss your voice. I miss everything about you, Ant, everything that is you.”

Mr Stammers says: “Hi Ant, I miss you, too. I am just waiting for a call 24/7. Anytime, day or night, it doesn’t matter where you are.

“You know we would come and collect you and you knowwe would bring you home. Please, please, call and make your way back to us.

“Another person who misses you greatly is Nana.

“Your frequent visits, your lively debates, were a great deal of comfort and a great deal of joy to her.

“Come back and make us a complete family again.”

The former St Benedict’s College pupil was reported missing after he did not attend his grandfather’s funeral on May 28, 2012. Police carried out searches in and around the town, but his disappearance remains a mystery.

Anthony, who had previously been treated for depression, was last seen on May 27 at 10am, when he told his mum he was going tomeet a couple of friends in London and might or might not return home that night.

He texted her an hour later to ask if she could make sure his black trousers were ready for his grandfather Arthur’s funeral the next day. He did not meet his friends, or attend the funeral at Colchester Crematorium.
