CHEEKY pensioners have bared all in a calendar to raise cash for charity.

Residents of John King Court, in High Street, Brightlingsea, are releasing their own saucy calendar to raise £1,000, for the retirement home and the volunteer-led Autumn Centre Family Support, also in Brightlingsea, which runs lunch clubs for older people.

Pensioners are featured in good humoured, risque poses.

Brian White, 75, who is pictured cooking a hot dog over a summer barbecue, was one of the first people to agree to take part.

He said: “I wouldn’t say I was keen but I thought it would be good fun.

“I think it proves you’re only as old as you feel and it really brought out the youngster in me.”

Braintree and Witham Times:

Mr White has been spotted in Brightlingsea since the calendar was released and has been complimented on his pose.

He added: “I just had a laugh about it.”

Resident Sally Butcher, 65, added: “It was really good fun and the photographers really put us at ease.

“But there is serious side to it. It’s for good causes so I hope we can raise as much as possible.

“The Autumn Centre is always fundraising and we want to be help if we can.”

Ena Cook, 67, added: “I was a bit self-conscious in front of the camera at first, but life is too short and we all had a laugh.

“It’s not something any of us have done before, but we’re all glad we took part.”

The calendar was more than a year in the making and was the brainchild of scheme officer, Sharon Taylor – who also appears.

She said: “Everyone wanted to show that age does not stop you having fun. The nearly-naked calendar idea has inspired many groups to strip off over the years, but we think ours is a first in this area and it has caused quite a buzz.”

The calendar, which is sponsored by nine Brightlingsea and Colchester businesses, costs £5 and is available in the Autumn Centre, John King Court, which is run by Colne Housing, the Brewer’s Arms and selected shops in the town.
