A YOUNG boy has been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision in Eastwood Drive, Colchester.
Part of the road was closed off and three ambulances and a number of police vehicles were sent to the scene around 8.30am today.
It is understood the collision involved the child and a car.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Eastwood Drive at about 8.37am after reports of a road traffic collision.
"We sent two ambulances and an ambulance officer who treated a young boy with suspected back injuries."
The child was taken to Colchester General Hospital.
The road re-opened around 9.20am.
