A widower has been left heartbroken after burglars stole his wife’s jewellery - including her wedding and engagement rings - two weeks after she died.
Retired builder David Nethercoat, of Lower Burnham Road, Latchingdon, was devastated to discover that thieves had raided his wife Elizabeth’s bedside cabinet at about 3pm last Monday.
He was finishing working on a house in Burnham at the time when plumbers called him to say they saw two men burgling his home.
The thieves took a rectangular gold-plated Gucci watch with a gold face, which Mr Nethercoat bought his wife and was worth about £600, as well as her white gold wedding ring, a white gold diamond solitaire engagement ring and a white gold half diamond cluster eternity ring.
The jewellery, which also included an assortment of bangles, is estimated at being worth more than £2,000.
