FRINTON’S famous Summer Theatre is hoping to cap its 75th anniversary season with a national award.
The repertory theatre, based at McGrigor Hall over the summer, is in the running for the Most Welcoming Theatre award.
It is part of an annual event organised by website My Theatre Matters to celebrate top community venues. People can vote for the Frinton theatre online during the regional stage of the awards.
The winners from each region will go head to head for the national award.
Producer Matthew Townshend urged fans to support Frinton by voting.
He said: “We had record numbers of people through the doors for the season and we hope that they enjoyed themselves enough to vote for us. Winning an award like this would be fantastic for the company and for the town, but also for repertory theatre, which is still such an important part of our theatre culture.
“In this special 75th anniversary season, we went outside the usual boundaries and introduced more performances which invited community involvement.
“Welcoming new audiences and reaching out to all sectors of the community is a big part of what we do and we’d love to be recognised for that.”
People can cast their vote at mytheatrematters.com/ surveys/east Voting closes on September 29.
